It was verified for full functionality followed by a short "burn-in" once the build was complete. Overall Review: This is a much shorter review than I normally do on a motherboard, but this specific purchase was for a customer build, so I did not put it through all of the paces and tests I normally would if I had purchased it for review or for one of my own builds where time was not a concern. There were zero problems with setup, everything works as intended, and it's been stable since day one of the build. The build quality of the board is great, the chipset and VRM cooling not only works, but looks nice as well. The board has a lot of great features and can handle overclocking quite well if you choose to do so. Pros: This is a great motherboard for that "middle of the road" AMD FX based build. Both have been equally reliable, however. I switched over to Gigabyte from MSI and can confidently say I prefer the latter in light of quality, performance, versatility, price, and bugginess. It's lasted 18 months without frying or frying any other hardware so I can't complain. All in all the components do seem to be of a decent quality of build and it does perform mostly as advertised. For now, however, I'll ride this one out until it dies. I don't completely regret buying this board but I should have shopped around and researched other options before purchasing. It's lasted a while and hasn't had any major bugs or flaws other than the temperature problem (and other than having to RMA the first I received as a DOA.) But it is not without quirks and I rather regret not spending $20 to $50 more for a better brand. If you were able to pick it up on sale or something then it's worth it to consider. Overall Review: This motherboard packed a few features and a bit of versatility for it's day. This is a significant con considering it touts "AMD OverDrive Support" in the "Features" section of the "Specifications" tab above this review you're currently reading. I was thinking my liquid cooler was going bad and researching a new one before I luckily came across a forum with similar complaints about this motherboard. Under load it says temperatures are over 70C (dangerous levels!) while HWmonitor reads the proper temperature of ~40 to ~46C.

I haven't known this the entire time I have had this board but the temperature sensors read drastically different depending on which software you use! AMD Overdrive tells me they're up at 25C on idle (which is dangerously high) while HWmonitor reads (the proper temperature of) 10C. I believe the "default" memory speed when you mix two 1866Mhz sticks with two 1600Mhz sticks is 1333Mhz.as mentioned before I was able to get all RAM stable at 1600Mhz. It was able to OC two sticks of 1866 RAM to the proper speed, but mixing those with 1600 sticks, as outlined by others, drops the frequency drastically. The highest I have gotten is around 4.2 when many report my processor can go much, much higher. I can't even push my processor to 4.5GHz and be stable. At least the BIOS says it saved the settings as such but CPUID seems to say otherwise.My system boots either way and there was a slight performance boost in RAM disk speeds.Ĭons: It cannot overclock for anything.

From a Phenom 1090T upgrade to the FX8350, it's handled both and it will works a year later.ĭespite the RAM setup I list in cons, I was able to get the BIOS to manually set the CAS latency and RAM speed to 1600MHz in the end.
